Mr. Mindia Davitadze, Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti, held a remote meeting with Mr. António Campinos, President of the European Patent Office (EPO). At the introductory meeting the heads of the Offices discussed the prospects of Georgia’s accession to the European Patent Organisation.
Mr. Mindia Davitadze, the new Chairman of the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia, hosted Peter Wiebler, USAID/Georgia Mission Director. An introductory meeting between Mr. Peter Wiebler and the Sakpatenti Chairman took place at the National Intellectual Property Center premises.
To increase work effectiveness, productivity and efficient allocation of resources, a new control mechanism has been introduced into the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti. As a result of the modifications implemented in the center’s structure, a few days ago the Internal Audit Department has been created and began its functioning. The department will carry out its activity independently and in full compliance with the principles of objectivity and confidentiality.
The primary draft of specifications of Rachan Ham and Gurjaani Peach is ready and soon two new geographical indications will be added to the State Register. Within the EU Twinning Project, specifications of these two products were drafted by the experts engaged in the project, in cooperation with the local producers.
The introductory remote meeting took place between Mr. Mindia Davitadze, Sakpatenti Chairman, and Mr. Christian Archambeau, Executive Director of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The EUIPO Executive Director congratulated Mr. Mindia Davitadze on his appointment to the position of the Chairman. The parties discussed the cooperation of Sakpatenti and its strategic partner EUIPO and the progress of the joint projects.
The structural units of the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti continue teleworking, except the structural units which provide services to citizens and carry out proceedings. Today, on June 8, 2020, the Service Centre resumed receiving citizens and applicants will be able to file applications directly at the office as well.
Sakpatenti issued a certificate of registration for appellation of origin “Akhoebi”. It is a special wine of dark red colour, with excellent, full, extravagant, velvet, harmonious taste and aroma. The application for registration was filed with the National Intellectual Property Centre of Georgia Sakpatenti by N(N)IP Kardenakhi Wine.
